I'm Confused

Here's the deal...I'm thinking that it is time to get Olivia a new car seat but I don't know which one to buy. As usual, I'm driving myself crazy trying to research and pick the "perfect" one. The problem with this is 1) I don't have time to thoroughly research every car seat out there and 2) the stores around here seem to carry a limited selection.

I know that I still want the option to keep her rear facing since I've read that this way is safest, but I would also like to have her forward facing for trips. The seat needs to be SAFE, comfortable, have a reclining function, good quality, affordable and it would be nice if it was cute! I don't want to spend a million bucks, but at the same time I know that most times you get what you pay for and when it comes to my baby girl's safety, there is no price too high.

So, PLEASE help me. If you know anything about a particular car seat, good or bad, please share.

We've had the Evenflo Triumph for 3.5 years (since Kellen was 5 months old) and it's still going strong. It's convertible, so we used it backwards and forwards. It also has good head support for sleeping. Bonnie can just tilt her head to the side a little, while Kellen in his big seat has his head flopping all the way forward when he sleeps in the car.

Whatever you decide, you can often get free shipping from sites like babycenter.com. I think babyage.com has a flat shipping like $7.95 or something.

Always happy to provide my humble opinion. It's amazing what they've come up with for babies even in the last few years.

I'm planning to get the Evenflo Triumph for Caroline. It's rated just as well as Britax by Consumer Reports, but costs half the price.

We have the Evenflo Titan. It is convertible so it goes forwards or backwards. It also has a cupholder that we've gotten lots of use out of.

Hey Irma, it's Abby. We had to get Silas a new seat at six months and we chose the Evenflo Triumph Advance LX. We originally bought the Britax one that was like $300, but I didn't like the HUGE headrest that isn't removable. Ashley's mom bought the Triumph as well and Silas seems to like it. The headrest keeps his head from flopping down when he sleeps, but isn't so big that it blocks his view from side to side. It's rear facing for now, but is convertible. We had to put a rolled-up towel underneath the side near the back seat (the owner's manual said it was fine) so that it reclined enough to be comfortable for sleeping. So! There's my two cents. It was hard for me to choose one, too. I stressed, but we have been happy with the one we ended up with. Hope you find one soon. Tell Koby i said "hi".
