Thanks!!

Wow! Thanks for the comments on the previous "advice" post. My mind is still spinning, but I feel like I have a little bit more direction. Since you guys were so responsive, I'll pick your brain about one more thing...type of diapers. Is there a particular brand that is best? I really don't want to buy/register for the expensive ones if the cheap(er) ones work just as well.
What's the scoop on the poop?

What I'm ExCiTeD about...
Last night after running some errands I was on my way home and just felt so beat. I then started complaining to myself about being tired, etc..but then *BAHM* it hit me.
There is a human life being created inside my body.
I know what you're thinking. You're 7 months pregnant and this is just now registering??? No, I'm not thaaaat slow (shut up Aaron!). I guess I just tend to overlook the sheer miracle that it truly is. So today I'm excited to be exhausted!!

No diaper advice to give, but just wanted to say how happy I am for you!

(And so thankful it's not me...at 43 years old, I would freak out if my doctor dropped some Baby Bomb News on me.)

ExCiTeD for you,

From what I hear, the "perfect diaper" varies from baby to baby. The grapevine told me "Huggies for boys, Pampers for girls" as well as, "Huggies for short/squatty bodies, Pampers for long & lean". Norah fit Pampers in both categories, and so far, so good.

From my personal experience--Pampers Swaddlers are the best in the very begging. They're the softest diapers I've found, and fit a little more snug than most others (which is vital in the beginning weeks when almost NOTHING keeps from leaking)

After that, we switched to regular Pampers, and the only leaks I ever had were the couple of times I strayed to store-brand diapers. Now, bear in mind I can list at least 7 of my friends who swear by "Parent's Choice" aka Wal-mart-brand...so don't feel like you HAVE to go for the high-dollar diapers. It was just nice for me, because like I mentioned before, we were GIVEN tons of diapers, and Wal-mart was kind enough to let me exchange them ALL without a receipt (we're talking 60+ packages of diapers) for the brand I decided I liked best.

I've tried them all! :) I prefer a Pampers Swaddler/Cruiser over the others. However, they are more expensive. I stock up when I find a good deal on them...same w/Huggies (good deal=same price as Wal-mart brand.) I use the Wal-mart brand when I run out/before the next good deal find. Start stocking up now in all the different sizes! There's no such thing as "too many diapers." You'll be amazed at how many you go through!

Hey Irma,
I want to offer my diaper advice. I have loved pampers swaddler and cruisers. They are more expensive, but we have tried all kinds. They are more stretchy and seem to fit ethan more comfy. Now we are trying pull-ups and underwear--but I will definitely use pampers again with the next one. We always buy in bulk at SAMS. They are cheaper to buy in bulk. Anyway, I hope this helps!

I was told (while I was pregnant) that "Pampers" were for girls and "Huggies" were for boys. I received all brands of diapers at my baby showers but we ultimately went with "Pampers."

We've used all kinds of diapers and I think it just depends on your baby. It's nice to have the Pampers when they're tiny; the diapers smell good and they're soft. I never had a baby who had lots of "blow outs" so I can't comment on that. Kellen (still in diapers at almost 3) is a "super soaker" during the night, so name brand have been better for him at night, but HEB brand are also good for big wetters. I use generics during the day. Bonnie is not a big wetter and Member's Mark brand (Sam's club) work just fine all the time. I think they are a lot less $$ than name brands. I have also gotten Walgreens brand when they have been Buy One Get One Free and they seem to work well, but they're sized a little small (again, probably not a concern for you right now, just FYI). Member's Mark wipes are also CHEAP compared to other brands and work great. Also, if you do end up using formula (I did with both babies for several months), again I can recommend Member's Mark. It's literally half the price of Similac and exactly the same. So, basically I just go to Sam's after Josh gets paid and stock up.=) Luckily, Bonnie doesn't need formula any more and maybe some day we won't have 2 sweet children in diapers.=)

"Shut up Aaron"? What, were you expecting some sort of quip from me? I would be SO offended if you weren't such a slow person. It is nice to see that the last horse has finally crossed the finish line, though.

On a side note, I was looking at your registry tonight and Anne and I were wondering what 'breast pads' are used for...

We did swaddlers until our gift cards dried up :-), then tried off-brands (favorite was HEBaby), but Maizie's skin is super sensitive, so we're back on the Pampers.

It's so funny how the reality of the miracle that's happening in your own body comes as a total surprise sometimes. I don't think I completely comprehend it even now. Can't wait to meet little Olivia.

we used huggies for the boys and pampers for rosie. we found that when we switched brands around a lot they would get rashes. but some people i know get a different brand every time with no problems. the swaddlers (pampers) were great! they didn't have those with the boys. i was sad when we grew out of those, but the cruisers are good, too.

Make sure you register for stuff to help with your B.B.B.'s...

the thing that alison and justin couldn't have done without was a great swaddling blanket and they watched a video and it was life changing. Happiest Baby on the Block. it taught how to swaddle, put on her side when you are holding her, shshshsh in her ear, put her in the swing and ...the whole thing was about how to calm your baby. it was WONDERFUL and worked like a miracle.

As for diapers....My favorite is either the Huggies SUPREME or White Cloud -wal-mart brand. Emma's sensitive bottom can't do Pampers. The other thing to stock up on is wipes; I couldn't believe how many of those things we go through!! For wipes, the Pampers sensitive or Target brand sensitive are the only ones that don't irritate Emma's hiny. Hope this helps!! ~Rachel
